Happy tu bishvat!
I have just been told by my neighbour that today is the birthday of all trees and Jewish children will go out and plant a tree to celebrate. #tubishvat

Today is Tu BiShvat, a Jewish holiday occurring on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Shevat. In #Israel the day is celebrated as an ecological awareness day & trees are planted in celebration. Since 1901, 250,000,000 trees have been planted in Israel.

For Sunday's Tu BiShvat: the lovely 'Tree of Hebrew Learning' from @bodleianlibs. This handwritten guidebook may have been presented to Elizabeth I on her first official visit to Oxford. The text is by Thomas Neal (1519–1590), Regius Professor of Hebrew @UniofOxford.

Holding space for my fellow Jews who are reliving painful childhood Tu Bishvat memories involving carob today. You were right. It doesn’t taste just like chocolate. The rabbi was gaslighting us. ::returns to fetal position in corner::
Today is the Jewish festival of Tu Bishvat! A New Year for trees! On Tu Bishvat you eat four different types of fruit, hard, soft & whole fruit, with a blessing. You drink four types of wine/ grape juice symbolising the changing seasons & celebrating what trees & plants give https://t.co/MMRIjnHMy7
Had a great time earlier today with @Friendship_Mcr planting trees to celebrate Tu Bishvat.
A big thank you to those who helped support the event, especially @CityofTreesMcr and @BuryCouncil. https://t.co/Jv6Ybxevgp
Just watched a great little object talk from @JewishMuseumLDN on the olive branch mezuzah. Isn’t it beautiful?! Also made links with Tu B’shevat (the New Year for Trees), it’s origins & celebrations. You can read more here: https://t.co/7yWhZ5Gr9o https://t.co/gfdP8QMbDQ
Shabbat shalom! Rabbi Mark Solomon is back for services this Shabbat.
Tu Bishvat, the new year for trees, falls on Monday, so tonight at 6pm there will be a Tu Bishvat Seder. Rabbi Mark will be at the synagogue in Leicester, and MLJC members/friends can join on Zoom.

@StopAntisemites Israel has been planting trees, since at least the early 80's as I have my Tu Bishvat certificates to prove I contributed to this.
